How to use the DIY Hand Sanitizer?

Here are a few tips to use your sanitizer effectively.

1.  Take 3-4 drops of hand sanitizer onto the palm of one hand.

2. Rub your hands together thoroughly. Cover all the surfaces of your hands and fingers with the sanitizer.

3. Keep rubbing your hands with the sanitizer until your hands are dry. It usually takes 30-60 seconds to effectively kill germs on your hands.

NOTE: Hand sanitizer won’t be effective if your hands are dirty or greasy. I recommend washing your hands with soap and water first.

When to use the sanitizer?

It is necessary to sanitize your hands frequently during the day.  You need to sanitize your hands:

  • After using the toilet
  • Before eating
  • After sneezing and coughing
  • After touching handles or knobs of doors in public places etc.

The Final Word

The hand sanitizers may not be able to kill all types of germs, but it is a good alternative if you can’t wash your hands or do not have access to water at the moment.  Sanitizers are travel-friendly, quick and easy to use, to maintain hand hygiene. If it is difficult to find sanitizers in the market, you can give this homemade sanitizer a try and keep hygiene intact. Though hand sanitizers are an easy replacement, health authorities give more preference to washing your hands with soap and water frequently.
