homemade flaxseed gel for skin

Flaxseed cream is a natural alternative to chemical-laden market creams, offering gentle hydration and nourishment. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, it helps maintain skin elasticity, moisture and promote a healthy glow. The gel-like texture absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue. Embracing flaxseed cream means caring for your skin with nature’s goodness, free from harmful additives. Here’s a simple recipe for homemade flaxseed gel with aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil:

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup flaxseeds
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons of aloe vera gel (fresh or store-bought)
  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
  • Optional: Essential oils for fragrance (like lavender or tea tree)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Flaxseed Gel:

  •    – In a saucepan, combine ¼ cup of  flaxseeds and water.
  •    – Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon.
  •    – Once it starts boiling, reduce heat to low and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens to a gel-like consistency.

2. Strain the Gel:

  •    – Turn off the flame, remove from the heat and let it cool.
  •    – Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain the gel into a bowl. Discard the flaxseeds.

3. Mix in Aloe Vera and Vitamin E:

  •    – Once the flaxseed gel has cooled to room temperature, add the aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil.
  •    – Mix thoroughly until well combined. You can use a whisk or blender for a smoother texture.

4. Add Essential Oils (Optional):

  •    – If you’d like, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance and additional benefits.

5. Store:

  •    – Transfer the gel to a clean, glass airtight container.
  •    – Store in the refrigerator for up to 1-2 weeks.

Usage

  • Apply a small amount to your face and body after cleansing.
  • Use it as a moisturizer or soothing treatment for dry or irritated skin.
